Our Financial Agreement
When you join East Bay Aikido,
you join a community of committed students who support and make our dojo
possible. Without the on-going financial support of its members,
the dojo could not exist. As a supporting member of the
dojo, meeting your financial obligations in a timely manner allows
the dojo to meet its financial obligations on time.
Therefore:
~ Dues
are due on the 1st day of each month unless you have made a specific arrangement
with Sensei.
~ If
your dues are not paid by the 7th of the month, a late fee may be added.
~ Paying
your dues makes you an Active Member of the dojo.
~ Should
you decide to discontinue your training, or take a break, it is customary
to inform the Chief Instructor or the Dojo Manager.
~ If
you have not paid your dues by the 7th of the month, or have not communicated
to the Chief Instructor or the Dojo Manager your intention to remain an
Active Member, you may be considered "Inactive."
~ You
may reactivate your membership by informing the Chief Instructor or the
Dojo Manager and paying your monthly dues plus the Re-registration Fee.
At that time you will again be an Active Member of the dojo.
Learning aikido is a life-long
pursuit. It is best to think of it as a long-term commitment which can be
paid for month by month. Remember, if you want the dojo to be here for you,
you must be here for the dojo. When you withdraw financial support from
the dojo, there is no guarantee that the dojo will be here for you when you
want to return.
From time
to time, we all experience financial difficulties. When this happens, we
tend to cut out the very things that we need the most. Although not a "necessity",
a personal practice like aikido forms the foundation on which we stand during
hard times.
It is possible during times
of financial difficulties to make arrangements to pay partial dues. Remember,
it is better to pay something and help insure the continued existence of
the dojo than to pay nothing and risk its loss.
Typically, students who are
on "dojo scholarships" make up for their lack of finances by helping out
in the dojo in other ways, such as cleaning and administration.
Should you
find yourself in this situation, communicate with Sensei or the Dojo Manager.
