Teekell Sensei began his Aikido training in 1981. Besides being on the teaching staff of East Bay Aikido, Teekell Sensei also heads his own dojo - Oakland Hills Aikido. He currently holds the rank of Go Dan (5th Degree Black Belt) from the Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.

His enthusiasm for Aikido along with his depth of knowledge and creativity make Teekell Sensei one of the best Aikido practitioners and teachers in the Bay Area.

Teekell Sensei has trained in both traditional Hombu style Aikido and Iwama style Aikido. He has also studied many other styles of Aikido with dozens of aikido instructors while traveling around the US and several foreign countries.

In addition to his regular aikido practice, he has developed a seminar called Aikido At Work for people both familiar and unfamilar with aikido which demonstrates how aikido principles and practices can be applied in their daily lives - in the workplace, at home, on the road and with friends. He has given AAW presentations at Lions, Kiwainas and Rotary Clubs as well at Experience Unlimited and at Stanislaus State Univerity as part of their Introduction To Business class. If you would like to schedule an Aikido At Work seminar, you can contact Teekell Sensei at  tako14@comcast.net.

Along with his many other accomplishments, he has also helped raise two fine sons. One of whom is also a Black Belt in Aikido.
